Trump pushes Ukraine and Russia toward pre-winter peace agreement

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed renewed optimism regarding peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow following discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Speaking after a bilateral meeting with Zelensky, Trump urged both leaders to reach a settlement, stating, "He wants a deal and, if Zelensky wants a deal, it would be great." Zelensky described the exchange as "positive and productive," adding that both Washington and Kyiv share the goal of stopping Russian aggression before seasonal weather deteriorates.

Trump also confirmed a recent phone call with Putin, reiterating his belief that the Kremlin is open to negotiations. Both sides face growing pressure to initiate formal talks prior to winter.
