US President Trump signaled progress on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran warned of retaliatory strikes against Gulf energy targets if attacked by Washington.

US President Donald Trump stated an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be reached within days, citing significant progress in ongoing discussions between Iran and Oman. Iranian diplomats confirmed negotiations with Muscat focus on establishing secure maritime transit routes, though Tehran reiterated it is dealing exclusively with Oman.

Despite potential progress, security risks remain high. Iran warned it would launch retaliatory strikes against Gulf energy infrastructure if Washington initiates further military actions, following recent US threats against Iranian energy networks. Meanwhile, an Indian vessel was reportedly struck and sunk near Yemen.

In concurrent regional developments, Lebanese and Israeli delegates convened in Rome for a seventh round of negotiations. The United Nations also confirmed that approximately 800,000 displaced Lebanese citizens have started returning to southern Lebanon.
