Spanish wildfires claim 14 lives as unified command deployed across impacted provinces

Spanish authorities have established a unified command as historic wildfires burn 77,000 hectares, leaving 14 dead and forcing nearly 90,000 people to evacuate or shelter.
Emergency services in Spain continue fighting widespread wildfires that have scorched roughly 77,000 hectares and forced nearly 90,000 residents into evacuation or confinement across four provinces. The overall death toll reached 14 following the death of a woman in a Seville hospital from injuries sustained in the Los Gallardos fire in Almería.
Fears that separate blazes in Madrid and Ávila could merge into a single massive fire prompted the central government to establish a unified emergency command. Meanwhile, severe disruptions have impacted regional communication networks. During a visit to the affected Castellón region, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez urged political parties to forge a binding national pact to address climate change.
