A fierce wildfire near Omiš, Croatia, has destroyed property and left dozens injured, while reports diverge over whether a fatality occurred.

Emergency teams have contained a massive wildfire along Croatia's Adriatic coastline after flames spread from Lokva Rogoznica to the outskirts of Omiš, leaving behind extensive destruction. The blaze destroyed residential properties, vehicles, and boats before ground crews and four water-bombing aircraft brought the fire under control.

The Clinical Hospital Centre in Split treated between 36 and 40 injured people, admitting 14 individuals, with up to eight remaining in intensive care with life-threatening burns. During the blaze, over 500 residents and tourists fled into the sea, where maritime police, port authorities, and private boat operators conducted coordinated rescue operations.

Reporting diverges on casualties. Serbian daily Danas reported that a body was discovered in Omiš following the blaze, while news agency Beta cited official records indicating no confirmed fatalities.
