Firefighters across Croatia and Serbia work to contain devastating wildfires that have destroyed property, injured dozens, and claimed at least two lives.

Firefighters across the Balkans continue to manage widespread wildfires, focusing on containment and mop-up operations in Croatia and Serbia.

In Croatia's Dalmatia region, open flames near Omiš and Lokva Rogoznica have been largely subdued after destroying homes, vehicles, and boats. Medical staff at Split's Clinical Hospital Centre have treated dozens of injured people, with seven individuals remaining in life-threatening condition. Conflicting reports persist regarding casualty figures, with injury estimates ranging between 36 and 43 alongside at least one confirmed fatality. More than 500 residents and tourists were evacuated by sea after fleeing the advancing flames.

Meanwhile, emergency services in Serbia are combating more than 30 active blazes nationwide. Firefighting operations have resulted in at least one death and several injuries, with incoming heatwave conditions and strong winds expected to further hinder containment.
