Russian forces launched air strikes against Kyiv following Ukrainian warnings of an impending attack, while Moscow rejected freezing the conflict and ICC states removed Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan.

Russian strikes hit three districts in Kyiv early Sunday, causing fires at a commercial warehouse, a vehicle parking area, and an abandoned building. The attacks followed warnings from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who stated intelligence indicated Russia was preparing a large-scale missile assault within 48 hours.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that freezing the Ukraine conflict is currently impossible, attributing the lack of progress to Kyiv's posture and reiterating Moscow's previous demands. Russian President Vladimir Putin also criticized Western foreign policy, arguing that NATO expansion and military interventions disrupted post-World War II stability, while predicting that Ukraine will ultimately lose its western territories.

In an unrelated legal development, member states of the International Criminal Court voted to dismiss Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan following misconduct allegations.
