Russian strikes killed at least 17 in Kyiv while Ukrainian drones targeted Russian regions, amid post-war security discussions and an Italian naval interception of a shadow fleet tanker.

Massive Russian airstrikes hit Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia, leaving at least 17 people dead in the capital and dozens injured by guided glide bombs. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that additional interceptor systems could have saved lives, adding that Moscow relocated air defense units from other regions to build three protective rings around Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

Simultaneously, Ukrainian drone strikes targeted Russian positions in Belgorod, Crimea, and near Moscow, causing multiple civilian casualties. Discussing post-war arrangements, Zelensky affirmed that Ukraine would not voluntarily retreat from Donbas and anticipates strong security guarantees from Washington. Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump warned against sharing sensitive American weapons technology. Separately, an Italian naval vessel intercepted a Russian shadow fleet tanker off Pantelleria.
