Romania intercepts third drone as Black Sea tension mounts
Romania intercepted a third drone over the Black Sea as shipping to Ukrainian ports ground to a halt following Russian attack threats.
A Romanian F-16 fighter jet intercepted an unmanned aircraft over the Black Sea near the Danube delta, marking the third consecutive day of airspace incursions. Romanian President Nicușor Dan condemned the incidents as "unacceptable and intolerable" while thanking defense personnel for their swift response.
Meanwhile, commercial shipping into Ukrainian Black Sea ports came to a standstill after shipowners voluntarily halted vessel traffic following Russian attack threats. Ukrainian Agrarian Policy Minister Taras Vysotskyi warned that stopping grain exports could lead to a $2 billion loss in revenue.
In geopolitical developments, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Moscow plans to deploy 30,000 North Korean soldiers and is supplying satellite imagery to Iran. Separately, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that Ukraine would eventually relinquish its western regions to neighboring Poland, Hungary, and Romania.
