Kazakh president proposes freezing Ukraine conflict as Zaporizhzhia death toll rises

Kazakhstan's president has urged Vladimir Putin to freeze the Ukraine war, as the death toll from a strike in Zaporizhzhia rose to 11.
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has proposed freezing the conflict in Ukraine and returning to peace negotiations under an "Istanbul 2.0" framework during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Omsk.
Meanwhile, Russian-installed officials in the occupied Zaporizhzhia region reported that the death toll from an attack on tourist facilities in Kyrylivka rose to 11, including four children. Regional governor Yevgeny Balitsky stated that 16 people were injured and eight remain missing as rescue workers continue searching the site.
The strike follows warnings from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding intelligence reports that Russian forces are preparing a major missile attack across Ukraine.
