Iran and Oman finalise coordinates for Strait of Hormuz shipping corridor

Iran and Oman are finalising an agreement on Strait of Hormuz maritime coordinates, though Tehran cautions full reopening depends on broader conditions.
Tehran and Muscat have reached an understanding on the geographical coordinates for a safe maritime passage through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei. Officials indicated that the agreement is nearing completion, though its enactment remains contingent on third parties refraining from disruption. Iranian authorities also warned that bilateral arrangements cannot unilaterally ensure security across the strategic waterway.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that fully restoring transit requires fulfilling additional prerequisites, including war reparations. Regional maritime tensions persist following reports from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations of two unexplained explosions near an oil tanker off the coast of Oman. Authorities confirmed that the vessel and crew were unharmed, with no environmental damage detected.
