German Chancellor Merz says all victims of Berlin attack out of danger
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz confirmed that all victims injured in Saturday's attack on a Berlin Pride event are out of danger, as police continue their terror investigation.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced on Sunday that all victims injured in the vehicle attack on a Berlin Pride event are now out of danger. The attack, which left one woman dead and 29 others injured, is being formally investigated as an Islamist terrorist attack, according to Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, who stated that "all evidence points in this direction."
The announcement followed the shooting of the primary suspect, 21-year-old Abdul B., who was killed by special police forces in Berlin's Spandau district after advancing toward officers with an edged weapon. The violence has heightened security concerns among LGBTQ+ community members across the region.
