German security agencies continue to investigate more than 100 suspected cases of foreign state-sponsored hybrid warfare, with primary suspicion focused on Russian intelligence services.
According to investigative reports, law enforcement discovered a hidden cache containing two loaded handguns in a forest near the Berlin state border in late summer 2023. Intelligence officials believe the firearms were deposited on behalf of Russian operatives for potential physical attacks or "kinetic operations."
Authorities are also evaluating an August incident at Leipzig Airport, where a drone carrying high explosives failed to detonate near four Ukrainian transport aircraft. The Interior Ministry described the event as a "hybrid attack attempt."
