Frontline Ukrainian farmers take up arms to defend land against Russian drones

Frontline Ukrainian farmers are taking up arms to defend their agricultural operations against Russian drone strikes along active combat zones.
Agricultural workers operating near Ukraine's front lines continue to face severe operational hazards as Russian drone strikes threaten local farming. Former international grain logistics manager Viktor Hordienko, who previously coordinated shipments across Europe and Asia, now uses a shotgun to defend his farm from reconnaissance and attack drones near combat zones.
Hordienko's experience reflects a broader shift for civilians in active conflict areas, where maintaining food production requires direct defensive measures against hostile aerial threats. Despite constant danger, agricultural operations persist along the front line to secure vital regional grain supplies.
