Ukrainian agricultural workers along the front line are adapting to wartime conditions by actively defending their farms against hostile drone attacks to protect local grain production.

Ukrainian agricultural professionals operating near active combat zones face severe disruptions while attempting to maintain food production and protect their operations. Viktor Hordienko, a former logistics specialist who previously managed international grain shipments across Europe and Asia, now defends his agricultural property close to the front line using a shotgun against Russian drones.

Prior to the full-scale invasion, Hordienko studied trade logistics in China and coordinated global maritime exports through European commercial hubs. His transition from international commerce to direct physical defense reflects the broader reality for agricultural workers along the border, who must adapt to military hazards, safeguard critical farming infrastructure, and sustain local grain supplies under continuous conflict conditions.
