Five Bosnian mountaineers die on Mount Elbrus following severe weather

Five Bosnian mountaineers have died on Mount Elbrus after bad weather derailed their expedition, prompting a Russian investigation and Bosnian repatriation efforts.
Five Bosnian mountaineers have died on Russia's Mount Elbrus after an expedition encountered severe weather conditions and strayed off course. The seven-member team had begun their ascent of Europe's highest peak before deteriorating conditions led to the tragedy at an altitude of approximately 5,100 meters. Emergency responders rescued two survivors and subsequently recovered all five bodies, which included local medical staff and mountain rescue volunteers from Zenica.
Russian authorities have initiated a criminal investigation into potential negligence causing death. Meanwhile, the government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced it will provide financial and logistical support to repatriate the victims' remains and assist the surviving members of the group.
