The Ebola outbreak in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo has surpassed 3,600 cases and 1,800 deaths as international aid efforts scale up.

The Ebola epidemic in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo continues to spread at a rapid pace, marking the nation's largest recorded outbreak. According to the World Health Organization and the Congolese Ministry of Health, confirmed cases have exceeded 3,600, with over 1,800 deaths reported and a mortality rate of 45.3 percent.

Five provinces are currently affected, with Ituri remaining the epicenter of the crisis. Medical charity Doctors Without Borders warned that frontline containment efforts have failed to slow transmission, describing the situation as "more critical than ever." In response to the escalating emergency, World Health Organization leadership visited the region while international donors, including the United States, pledged additional funding to support field operations.
