Ceuta's regional leadership has requested military deployment from Madrid as over 1,500 migrants reach the enclave and border crossing attempts escalate.

The situation in Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta has intensified following renewed border crossing attempts by large groups of migrants. Footage published by Spanish media shows hundreds of young Moroccans attempting to scale the land perimeter fence directly, moving beyond the sea routes primarily used during earlier arrivals.

Over 1,500 people, including adults and unaccompanied minors, have reached the territory over the past week. Regional President Juan Jesús Vivas reiterated that Ceuta is experiencing a "total humanitarian and social emergency" as local reception capacity remains exhausted. To alleviate the operational strain on municipal infrastructure, regional authorities have formally requested military deployment from the central government in Madrid to help manage border security and emergency services.
