Volodymyr Zelensky urged allies to tighten sanctions on Russian missile makers and appointed Rustem Umerov to lead foreign intelligence, as strikes were reported in Zaporizhzhia and Gelendzhik.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky outlined key diplomatic and defense objectives during an address to Ukrainian ambassadors, urging international partners to tighten sanctions against companies producing Russian ballistic missiles. Zelensky stated that Ukraine aims to apply sufficient diplomatic, economic, and military pressure to force an end to the war before winter. As part of an ongoing security reorganization, Zelensky appointed former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov as head of the Foreign Intelligence Service.

Meanwhile, strikes continued across the region. Local Ukrainian officials reported that a Russian guided aerial bomb hit the Zaporizhzhia region, killing one person and wounding another. In a separate development, Russian officials accused Ukraine of executing a deliberate drone attack on a resort beach in Gelendzhik along the Black Sea, which allegedly left seven people dead, including three children, and 40 injured. Ukrainian officials have not issued an immediate comment.
