Uncontrolled wildfires continue to advance across southwestern France and central Spain, forcing more than 300,000 people to flee affected regions.
In France, flames have reached within 15 kilometers of Bordeaux, prompting airport closures and maritime evacuations around the Cap Ferret peninsula. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez described the crisis, stating, "We have never seen a fire of this magnitude." At least 140,000 residents have been displaced in the Gironde department as thick smoke severely hampers visibility and air quality.
Meanwhile, a major blaze 60 kilometers west of Madrid remains out of control under a declared state of emergency. Madrid Regional President Isabel Díaz Ayuso called it the worst fire in the region's history, warning of an "unprecedented" situation as emergency crews struggle against extreme conditions.
