Venezuela government and opposition agree to hold talks in Caracas

Venezuela's government and opposition have agreed to meet in Caracas next week for direct talks following the capture of former President Nicolás Maduro in January.
Venezuela’s ruling administration and opposition representatives have agreed to hold face-to-face negotiations in Caracas next week, according to National Assembly Speaker Jorge Rodríguez. Rodríguez stated he held a telephone conversation with opposition politician Dinorah Figuera to establish a framework for the talks. The two sides reportedly established a working plan aimed at achieving clear and verifiable goals.
The upcoming meeting follows the capture of former President Nicolás Maduro by the United States in January. Since Maduro's removal, former Vice President Delcy Rodríguez has served as the country's interim leader.
