US Supreme Court temporarily allows White House ballroom construction to resume

The United States Supreme Court has temporarily permitted the Trump administration to resume construction on a $400 million ballroom at the White House.

In a brief order issued by Chief Justice John Roberts, the court placed a temporary administrative stay on a lower court ruling that had halted major portions of the development. The interim decision provides the justices additional time to evaluate an emergency application submitted by the federal government.

The multi-million-dollar project remains subject to an ongoing legal challenge brought by a historic preservation group aimed at blocking permanent structural changes to the presidential residence.
