US, Denmark, and Greenland sign security pact for new military bases

The US, Denmark, and Greenland signed a security agreement allowing new US military bases and missile defense infrastructure on the Arctic island.
The United States, Denmark, and Greenland have signed a security agreement on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, resolving a diplomatic rift. Signed by US President Donald Trump, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, and Greenlandic Premier Jens-Frederik Nielsen, the pact grants Washington permission to construct two new military bases in Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig.
Under the indefinite deal, the US will also expand and modernize its existing Pituffik Space Base and deploy its "Golden Dome" missile defense system on the Arctic island. Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen welcomed the accord, stating, "The agreement is good for the United States, good for Denmark, and good for Greenland." The deal aims to enhance security cooperation in the Arctic region.
