US charges five alleged Russian operatives over global assassination plots
US prosecutors charged five alleged Russian agents over a global sabotage and murder campaign, while Denmark reported Russian physical sabotage against its defense contractors.
US federal prosecutors have unsealed charges against five alleged Russian intelligence operatives accused of organizing a global campaign of assassinations and sabotage against supporters of Ukraine. According to an indictment unsealed in a Manhattan federal court, the network recruited individuals across North America and Europe to surveil and attack figures aligned with Kyiv, including a June 2024 operation in Prague. All five suspects remain at large.
Concurrently, Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service reported that Russian actors carried out physical sabotage operations targeting Danish defense companies supplying military equipment to Ukraine. Danish officials characterized these actions as a significant escalation in Moscow's hybrid warfare strategy across Western nations.
