US charges five alleged Russian operatives over global assassination plots
US prosecutors unsealed charges against five alleged Russian intelligence operatives accused of orchestrating targeted assassinations and sabotage against supporters of Ukraine.
United States prosecutors in Manhattan have unsealed an indictment against five alleged Russian intelligence operatives accused of orchestrating an international campaign of sabotage and targeted assassinations.
According to the Department of Justice, the suspects recruited and paid individuals across North America and Europe to track and attack targets aligned with Ukraine, including a June 2024 operation in Prague. All five accused individuals remain at large.
Concurrently, Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service reported at a Copenhagen security conference that Russian state actors have carried out targeted sabotage operations against Danish defense contractors supplying military hardware to Ukraine. Officials characterized the actions as a significant escalation in Moscow's hybrid operations across Europe.
