US charges five alleged Russian agents over assassination and sabotage plots
US authorities charged five alleged Russian intelligence agents with plotting assassinations and sabotage targeting Ukrainian allies, while Denmark reported hybrid attacks on defense firms.
United States federal authorities have charged five alleged Russian intelligence operatives for conducting a global campaign of sabotage and assassination plots against supporters of Ukraine. Unsealed court documents in New York allege the network financed operatives to conduct surveillance and execute attacks across Western Europe and the United States, including a mid-2024 operation in Prague. All five defendants remain at large.
Simultaneously, Danish intelligence officials revealed that Russian agents carried out targeted sabotage operations against domestic defense contractors supplying military hardware to Kyiv. Danish authorities framed the acts as a clear escalation in Moscow's hybrid warfare campaign aimed at undermining Western assistance to Ukraine. Kremlin officials have consistently denied involvement in state-sponsored sabotage operations in Europe.
