The U.S. and Iran prepare for new diplomatic talks following delayed military strikes, despite ongoing missile interceptions and maritime friction.

The United States and Iran are slated to resume diplomatic discussions following U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to postpone planned military strikes. Washington claimed Tehran requested the delay, an assertion denied by Iranian media. Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated the U.S. must abide by existing framework agreements.

Tensions persist alongside diplomatic efforts. The U.S. military reported intercepting several Iranian ballistic missiles targeting American forces in the Middle East. Maritime security also remains volatile after an explosion near a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, while Saudi Arabia announced an alliance to protect Red Sea shipping.

Following the announcement of talks, Asian crude oil prices fell by over five percent.
