US and Iran exchange strikes near Strait of Hormuz

Military hostilities between the United States and Iran have escalated near the Strait of Hormuz following a series of naval and missile exchanges. United States Central Command announced that American forces destroyed five Iranian Revolutionary Guard vessels after Iranian forces targeted US naval assets.

In response, Iranian state media reported that Tehran launched 20 missiles targeting American positions in Jordan and claimed to have struck six vessels, including three tankers and an aircraft carrier. Despite the military engagements, US President Donald Trump asserted that maritime navigation through the strait remains open, stating that "Tehran is in severe difficulty." However, US intelligence reports indicate that Iranian forces may escalate operations further as tensions persist.
