Ukraine is reorganizing its military leadership while facing critical air defense deficits and sharp comments on NATO from ambassador Valerii Zaluzhnyi.

Ukraine's armed forces are undergoing leadership restructuring under new army chief Mykhailo Drapatyi, who has begun overhauling internal command structures. The reorganization coincides with commentary from former commander-in-chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi, currently ambassador to the United Kingdom, who stated that Ukraine will never join NATO due to the alliance's reliance on outdated tactics.

Concurrently, Ukrainian air defenses suffered a failure during a Russian attack, failing to intercept any of the 28 ballistic and anti-ship missiles fired. The strike left at least 17 dead and 44 injured in the Kyiv region, with officials citing a critical shortage of Patriot interceptors. Analysts indicate Ukraine may shift strategy toward directly targeting missile launch platforms within Russia.
