Ukrainian drone crews from the 82nd Brigade are using abandoned homes near Zaporizhzhia as concealed positions to launch strikes and evade detection.

Ukrainian drone crews serving with the 1st Battalion of the 82nd Brigade are increasingly utilizing abandoned residential homes near the southern frontline in the Zaporizhzhia region to execute reconnaissance and attack missions.

Operating from deserted family properties, the soldiers conceal vital equipment—such as Starlink satellite terminals—among overgrown gardens and flowerbeds to avoid detection by Russian aerial surveillance. These makeshift command posts serve as both quarters and operational hubs for small units conducting remote-controlled drone strikes against enemy targets.

The reliance on concealed civilian infrastructure highlights the tactical adaptations required along the active southern front. Beyond technical coordination, frontline operators face significant psychological pressures while managing high-intensity aerial warfare from hidden rural shelters.
