Ukrainian and Polish specialists have finished exhumation work at a mass grave site located in Ukraine's Volyn region, close to the Polish border. Ukrainian archaeologist and historian Yaroslav Onyshchuk confirmed that joint research teams concluded their operations in the area of the former village of Ostrovske, which is now incorporated into the Rivne settlement.
The burial site was originally identified during preliminary research in April. Excavations revealed the remains of six individuals. The joint project reflects continued bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in investigating historic mass graves and resolving historical burial issues.
