Ukraine seeks air defense solutions against growing ballistic missile threat

Ukraine is urging Western partners for advanced air defense systems to counter Russia's escalating ballistic missile strikes on cities and critical infrastructure.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky continues to urge Western allies, particularly the United States, for additional air defense systems and interceptor missiles to counter Russia's increasing use of ballistic missiles. Unlike cruise missiles or drones, ballistic missiles travel at extreme speeds and high altitudes, making them significantly harder to detect and intercept without specialized defense networks such as Patriot systems.
The shortage of advanced interception capabilities leaves Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure vulnerable to severe damage and casualties. Kyiv is seeking expanded military supply commitments and technical solutions to bolster its air space protection as Russian missile strikes persist across the country.
