Ukraine faces a sharp drop in air defense missile deliveries while meeting EU accession benchmarks and receiving €1.4 billion from frozen Russian assets.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that deliveries of vital air defense interceptor missiles from international allies have fallen to one-third of 2025 levels. The reduction in supply coincides with escalating Russian drone and missile strikes against Kyiv and strategic southern maritime infrastructure. In response, Zelensky conferred with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to explore options for acquiring additional interceptor systems.

Concurrently, Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine has fulfilled all required criteria to open four additional negotiating clusters in its European Union accession process.

Meanwhile, the European Union finalized a fifth tranche of €1.4 billion derived from interest generated by frozen Russian Central Bank assets during the first half of 2026. The funds will directly support Ukraine's defense capabilities and national budget.
