Escalating Russian attacks trigger civilian evacuations in Kherson and Lozova as casualty numbers rise across Ukraine.

Russian strikes across Ukraine have escalated, prompting local evacuations and driving thousands from eastern regions. In southern Kherson, Regional Governor Oleksandr Prokudin advised residents, particularly families with children and the elderly, to leave due to impending winter heating and power outages. Meanwhile, the eastern transit city of Lozova is processing between 250 and 300 displaced civilians daily.

The surge in internal displacement follows severe casualties, including a double strike on a shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih that killed at least 14 people and injured over 120. Official figures indicate July was the deadliest month for Ukrainian civilians since early 2022, with at least 437 fatalities, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy continues requesting Western air defence systems. Domestically, authorities are conducting street operations to locate an estimated two million men avoiding military conscription.
