Turkey and Iraq strengthen energy and diplomatic ties as TPAO acquires a 15 percent stake in BP's Kirkuk enterprise alongside high-level bilateral talks.

Diplomatic and energy cooperation between Turkey and Iraq has deepened following high-level discussions and a major energy transaction. Turkish State Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) acquired a 15 percent stake in BP's Kirkuk-focused enterprise, expanding Ankara's footprint in Iraqi energy infrastructure.

Concurrently, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held talks with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional stability. Iraqi leadership emphasized that relations between Baghdad and Ankara are set to advance further across multiple sectors.

The developments coincide with a drop of more than five percent in global Brent crude prices, driven by easing geopolitical risks across the region.
