US President Donald Trump has stated that no direct negotiations are planned with Tehran, asserting that nothing will reach Iran without an agreement or surrender. According to media reports citing Axios, Trump downplayed the urgency of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing Iran's ongoing economic difficulties and severe inflation.
Meanwhile, Tehran reiterated that the strategic waterway will remain closed until Washington changes its policy, while confirming separate talks with Oman to establish secure maritime routes. Trump warned of potential military escalation, threatening action against Oman if diplomatic efforts disrupt American strategy in the region.
Maritime movement through the strait has fallen by 20 percent to just 95 vessels following recent attacks on shipping. Iran also warned it would launch an offensive if diplomatic avenues fail.
