U.S. President Donald Trump indicated an agreement on the Strait of Hormuz could be reached soon, even as Tehran insists the passage remains closed until Washington changes its posture.

U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that an agreement regarding the Strait of Hormuz could be reached imminently, while reiterating that no direct negotiations between Washington and Tehran are scheduled. Trump asserted that the waterway remains operational despite a hit on a vessel and declining maritime traffic, while warning of military action if American objectives are obstructed. He also criticized ongoing discussions between Oman and Iran regarding shipping management.

Concurrently, Tehran declared the strait will remain closed until the United States changes its policy, warning it could launch an offensive if diplomatic efforts fail. Iranian officials confirmed talks with Oman continue to focus on establishing safe transit routes for commercial vessels. Separately in the region, Hamas announced its acceptance of a secondary phase in the U.S. proposal, though Israel maintains that full Hamas disarmament is required prior to any troop withdrawal.
