Trump calls on Ukraine and Russia to reach peace deal before winter

Following talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and a telephone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump urged both nations to negotiate a resolution to the conflict prior to winter. Trump stated that Putin is seeking "an agreement" and encouraged Zelensky to reach terms with Moscow.

Zelensky characterized his discussion with Trump as "positive and productive," expressing a shared desire between Kyiv and Washington to conclude the war in the coming months. While Trump voiced optimism regarding Putin's willingness to negotiate, Ukrainian officials maintain that any potential deal must respect the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
