Trump and Zelensky express optimism for peace deal before winter

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed optimism following talks with US President Donald Trump, stating he believes the war with Russia could end in the coming months. Both leaders indicated a shared desire to halt the conflict prior to the onset of winter.

Trump urged both Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to reach a negotiated settlement. Speaking after a telephone conversation with Putin, Trump said the Russian leader is open to negotiations, adding, "He wants a deal and, if Zelensky wants a deal, it would be great."

While diplomatic discussions continue, Ukrainian officials maintain that any resolution must protect national sovereignty as momentum builds around potential peace talks.
