Trump pushes for winter peace deal between Ukraine and Russia
US President Donald Trump has urged Ukraine and Russia to reach a negotiated agreement to end the war before winter following talks with leaders in Washington and Moscow.
Following recent high-level diplomatic engagements, US President Donald Trump has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate an end to the war before winter.
Speaking after talks with Zelensky and a telephone call with Putin, Trump expressed optimism about potential peace negotiations. He stated that both sides need to reach a compromise, remarking, "He wants a deal and, if Zelensky wants a deal, it would be great." Zelensky described his meeting with Trump as "positive" on social media, emphasizing a shared desire between Washington and Kyiv to halt the conflict in the coming months. Ukrainian officials maintain that any eventual peace agreement must fully safeguard the nation's sovereignty.
