The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have announced their official dissolution as an independent military entity following their full integration into the Syrian national army.
SDF commander Mazloum Abdi confirmed the completion of the integration process during a press briefing following a meeting with Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa at the People's Palace in Damascus. The transition fulfills an agreement negotiated earlier this year between the autonomous administration and Damascus to bring regional military and civilian structures under unified state authority.
The SDF previously maintained administrative and military control over broad regions of northern and eastern Syria while serving as a key partner for international coalition forces fighting the Islamic State. Under the new arrangement, SDF formations will be incorporated as regular brigades within the Syrian armed forces.
