Swedish household and corporate lending grew in June at the fastest rate since 2023, while Barclays posted higher Q2 profits.

Swedish lending to households and businesses accelerated in June, marking its fastest growth rate since 2023 and signaling potential macroeconomic recovery. Increased demand for credit among consumers may be partially driven by recent adjustments to mortgage regulations, alongside a broader uptick in corporate borrowing.

Concurrently, European financial reporting showed positive momentum in the sector, with British banking group Barclays posting a second-quarter pre-tax profit of £3.3 billion, up from £2.5 billion in the previous year. Barclays saw its quarterly revenue rise to £8.3 billion from £7.2 billion.
