Spain launches new Poseidón vessel for NATO sub rescue and deep-sea missions

Spain's navy has launched the Poseidón, a specialized underwater rescue and intervention ship built to support S-80 submarines and NATO missions.
The Spanish Navy has launched its new Maritime Action Ship for Underwater Intervention, named Poseidón, during a ceremony this week. Designed to replace the aging Neptuno, the vessel is built to support Spain’s S-80 submarine fleet and participate in NATO underwater rescue missions.
Equipped with advanced technology, the ship features an unmanned underwater vehicle capable of operating at depths down to 6,000 meters, as well as dedicated space to host NATO rescue mini-submarines. Currently undergoing sea trials and final adjustments, the vessel is scheduled to fully enter active service next year.
