Ryanair reports a 34% drop in profits to €538 million amid lower fares, but chief executive Michael O'Leary remains focused on long-term European airline consolidation.

Ryanair reported a 34 per cent drop in profits to €538 million, driven by lower ticket fares and elevated fuel costs squeezing operating margins. According to company leadership, price-sensitive consumers are delaying bookings, leaving only around 40 per cent of September flights sold.

Despite these short-term financial headwinds, chief executive Michael O’Leary emphasized a broader long-term strategy, projecting another consolidation phase across the European aviation sector. Ryanair is positioning itself for an anticipated industry restructuring through major capital investments aimed at expanding market share and strengthening its fleet over the coming years.
