Russian forces launched fresh drone attacks on Kyiv as Moscow announced a campaign against Ukrainian energy grids, prompting EU warnings over security.

Russian forces executed overnight drone strikes across Kyiv, injuring at least one civilian and damaging infrastructure. The air assault occurred shortly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the UN General Assembly, where he referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin as "the patient zero who wanted war."

Concurrently, Russia's Ministry of Defence announced a renewed military campaign specifically targeting Ukraine's energy network. In response, Ukrainian forces escalated long-range drone strikes on oil refineries inside Russia, disrupting local fuel supplies and forcing Moscow to import petroleum products from abroad.

Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warned that the European Union is "ready to respond" to hostile acts following explosive drone incidents in Leipzig, Germany, where local authorities identified two suspects linked to Moscow.
