Russia's Sevmash shipyard has launched the Ulyanovsk, the sixth serial Yasen-M class nuclear submarine destined for the Northern Fleet.

The Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk has launched the Ulyanovsk, a multi-purpose nuclear-powered submarine. The vessel represents the sixth serial-built unit of the Yasen-M class developed for the Russian Navy.

Senior Russian officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev, Navy Commander Admiral Aleksandr Moiseev, and Arkhangelsk Governor Alexander Tsybulsky, attended the launch ceremony on July 28. Following final outfitting and sea trials, the submarine is expected to enter active service with the country's Northern Fleet. The Yasen-M class vessels are designed to deploy long-range precision weapons and perform complex anti-submarine and surface warfare missions.
