Raytheon has been awarded a $22.9 billion US Navy contract to produce, recertify, and modernize over 7,000 Tomahawk cruise missiles over seven years.

The U.S. Navy has awarded Raytheon a seven-year contract valued at $22.9 billion to significantly scale up the manufacturing of Tomahawk cruise missiles. Announced on August 17, the agreement encompasses the production, recertification, and upgrading of more than 7,000 ship- and submarine-launched weapons.

The contract aims to raise annual output to more than 1,000 units to replenish critical stockpiles depleted by recent military operations, including strikes in the Middle East. Defense analysts emphasize that maintaining diverse deep-strike missile portfolios remains essential for modern naval strategy alongside emerging long-range precision technologies.
