Patients in England with incurable HER2-low breast cancer gain NHS access to Enhertu after a price agreement was reached.

Thousands of patients in England with a specific form of incurable breast cancer will gain access to the life-extending drug Enhertu on the NHS following a pricing agreement between health officials and manufacturers.

The drug targets HER2-low advanced breast cancer and is expected to benefit around 1,000 women annually. Clinical trial data indicates that Enhertu can extend life by an average of seven months, with some patients surviving up to three years longer.

The decision follows prolonged negotiations after health regulators previously deemed the treatment too costly for routine public healthcare. While patients in Scotland have had access to the drug since 2023, the new agreement brings England in line with dozens of other nations where it is already available.
