Moroccan officials acknowledged 40,000 migrant entries into Ceuta, while local Spanish officials estimate up to 80,000 arrivals as military units assist border control.

Local authorities and Moroccan officials have reported conflicting figures regarding the migration crisis in Spain's North African enclaves. Ceuta's regional president, Juan Vivas, stated that up to 80,000 migrants crossed into the city—nearly matching its total population. In contrast, Morocco's Interior Ministry officially recognized 40,000 entries into Ceuta and 1,135 into Melilla, confirming 11 deaths on Moroccan territory.

In response to the overwhelming influx, Spanish military forces, including the Legion, were deployed to assist the 55 frontline police officers initially on duty. Border operations have involved detaining migrants for immediate returns, while Spanish authorities closed the border crossing at Melilla.
