Artificial intelligence and automated hardware are rapidly reshaping global military operations, from drone warfare in Ukraine to automated airstrike planning in China.

Artificial intelligence and autonomous hardware are playing an increasingly central role in modern warfare. Former Google chief executive Eric Schmidt noted that Ukraine's deployment of autonomous drone systems represents a historic shift in military tactics. Former Ukrainian defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov described the conflict as an around-the-clock technological war, emphasizing that domestic robotics and unmanned systems have significantly multiplied Ukraine's long-range strike range.

Global armed forces and defense developers continue navigating technological opportunities and operational limits. Ukrainian intelligence reported finding an American-manufactured microcomputer inside a newly built Russian missile, indicating possible AI-driven targeting capabilities. Meanwhile, SpaceX owner Elon Musk continues to restrict Ukrainian forces from utilizing Starlink satellite internet for strikes inside Russian territory. In parallel, China's military has deployed specialized AI software to coordinate large-scale simultaneous airstrikes.
