Armed forces globally are accelerating the integration of AI, autonomous drones, and advanced microchips into battlefield strategy and precision strike planning.

Global armed forces and defense technology firms are accelerating the deployment of artificial intelligence and automated systems on modern battlefields. In Ukraine, former defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov emphasized that confronting Russian forces requires maintaining an edge across rapid technological cycles focused on robotics and autonomous uncrewed vehicles. Tech leaders, including former Google chief executive Eric Schmidt, have noted that autonomous drone operations in Ukraine represent a transformative shift in the history of warfare.

Operational constraints remain a factor, including ongoing SpaceX restrictions that prevent Ukrainian forces from using Starlink connectivity for long-range offensive targeting inside Russia. Meanwhile, Ukrainian military intelligence reported discovering US-made microcomputers with AI processing power inside recovered Russian missiles. Concurrently, China's military has introduced automated AI systems designed to plan and coordinate synchronized, large-scale aerial strikes.
